  • Whidbey Island-whales, textiles and more

Although there is so much we have yet to explore on this Island it is now our land home-base. I believe there are nice people everywhere (and that all are good even though some are not happy or well) but this is definitely one of those places. When my son was two we traveled by ferry and bus back to the San Juan Islands where we were based on our sailboat for the summer while papa captained a schooner out of Friday Harbor. I’ve always packed lightly but had a simple stroller and backpack and the bus driver and even riders would get off the bus to offer their assistance to us. It was so sweet. And now living here I have had many more lovely encounters.

The entire Island is very lovely with lots of things to see and do and lots of beautiful life. I want to share the above plus the beautiful textiles and more at the “Music to the Eyes” store in Langley, not to mention the amazing experience of seeing Whales and other from the beaches there and the super sweet folks and yummy pizza at the local pizzaria! You can read more about the whales, such as the Sounder Gray whales that feed off a particular kind of shrimp in the shallows between Whidbey and Camano Island, on the web. The whales and other life are always a treat but so was coming across that store-I was blown away by the beautiful rugs and more.

And although many stay away due to the noisy growler jets that fly and practice over some of the Island, and I understand, it is still worth your time.

  • Super Sweet Audio Stories!

I found these sweet folks when I was looking for a sweet story to share at a winter solstice event I helped plan when my son was young. “Cranbery Elf” was the story and at the time in text. Soon after they had a website with many stories on audio, and growing. My son and his papa and I so enjoyed and felt soothed by many of their stories. The stories we liked and their characters became part of our tribe. From Martin and Sylvia to Junkyard Tales and Fairy stories to Tullyport Christmas and Advent Calendar. Like others, we shared the site with many friends and so did they and now they are widely known and have expanded even more.
